5 on Friday: 5 Things I’m Loving Lately

Welcome to 5 on Friday, a little list of things I’m enjoying lately.  I got this idea from Tim Ferris who sends out his 5 Bullet Friday posts to all his email subscribers and Laura Tremaine’s Secret Posts. If you’re interested you can check out Tim’s website at Tim.blog and Laura’s at 10thingstotellyou.com . I thought it would be fun to do a short and simple posts of things I’m enjoying lately. Every week you’ll find different content…could be books I’m reading, movies, tv, recipes, quotes, articles, household items etc….anything I’m enjoying to pass along in the hope that you might also find something you’d like.

True Crime Book I’ve Recently Bought
Dirty John and Other True Stories of Outlaws and Outsiders  by Christopher Goffard. Yes! I was so excited to find out that the LA Times Reporter Christopher Goffard who brought us the awesome Dirty John Podcast  now has a book which, according to Bustle, all true crime lovers will love. Count me in, I loved that podcast! Bustle article here

Movie I Loved
The Girl in the Spider’s Web  I will admit I didn’t have high expectations for this movie only because I tried reading the book since I had read and loved all of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo  books BUT I couldn’t get into The Girl in the Spider’s Web . I’m happy to report I loved the movie (so did my husband) and I immediately came home and downloaded the next book, The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye. This movie has reenergized my love for the series!

Podcast I’m Loving
Natch Beaut  with Jackie Johnson. Who knew a beauty/skincare podcast could be so entertaining but this one sure is. Jackie can (occasionally) be a little over the top and her guests can often talk about some really weird beauty routines but she’s funny and authentic PLUS I’ve gotten tons of product recommendations. Sephora samples here I come!

Funny Article from Bookbub for Us Booknerds
14 Things You’ll Relate to if You Have a Huge TBR Pile . There’s serious truth for me in #3 and #14! I realized this week that my tbr is never-ending, I literally keep adding way more books than I’ll probably actually read but I’m ok with that, in fact, I kind of like having an endless number of book choices. What numbers resonate with you all??

Recent Lipstick Find
Amuse-Bouch by Bite Beauty  I’ve been on the hunt for a lipstick that moisturizes AND stays on at least a few hours ever since Buxom discontinued my favorite one I’d been wearing for years. I just discovered Bite’s line of lipsticks last week at Sephora and I’m loving the one I bought (Pepper). It’s a little on the pricey side ($26) but I don’t wear lipstick everyday so this should last me at least a year.

Have a Great Weekend!

  1. Ever since my allergic reaction to my normal, long time lipstick, I’ve not been able to wear any lipstick. Even hypo-allergenic ones. I can’t find the common ingredient that is causing the problem. I thought it was beeswax but nope. I thought it was petroleum but nope. All I can wear is Burt’s Bees tinted balm. Bleh. Not enough coverage for me. Everyone keeps asking if I feel okay because I am so washed out.

    1. That’s no fun! What a bummer you haven’t been able to figure out what it is exactly. Have you tried any of the organic lines other than Burt’s Bees?

      1. I’ve tried a few, all with the same result. Swelling. It takes days for it to leave my system too so I am really hesitant to try anything else. Sometimes the swelling is so bad my lip splits which is not pretty. People tend to think I am a victim of domestic violence! No kidding.

  2. haha, I can relate to every single item on the Bookbub list!

I didn’t care for the book, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, but that trailer looks fantastic! I’ll be watching for your review on the next book in the series.

I loved Dirty John so I’m off to check out the book, thanks!

    1. I’ve listened to about half of the Dirty John book and it’s pretty interesting, not suspenseful like Dirty John but good stories

  3. I’ll have to check out the beauty podcast! Sounds interesting and I love hearing about new beauty ideas. I have a friend who loves the Buxom brand lip gels. Bite has beautiful colors, but I haven’t tried any ($$) I usually stick with my Mac at 20.00 ea.
