Welcome to 5 on Friday, a little list of things I’m enjoying lately. I got this idea from Tim Ferris who sends out his 5 Bullet Friday posts to all his email subscribers and Laura Tremaine’s Secret Posts. If you’re interested you can check out Tim’s website at Tim.blog and Laura’s at 10thingstotellyou.com . I thought it would be fun to do a short and simple posts of things I’m enjoying lately. Every week you’ll find different content…could be books I’m reading, movies, tv, recipes, quotes, articles, household items etc….anything I’m enjoying to pass along in the hope that you might also find something you’d like.
ARTICLE ON BOOKBUB.COM
16 Heartbreaking Books Hitting the Shelves This Fall Anyone else like books that make you cry? I sure do and I’ve already read 1 book on this list ( The Dream Daughter review next week) and have MANY more coming up over the next couple months
MY MUST HAVE READING APP
The Libby App for Overdrive I read almost exclusively on my kindle and the Libby App lets you download free ebooks and audiobooks straight from your library! I repeat, free books. You can read through the kindle reading app on your phone or iPad or through the Overdrive app. The app will send the books directly to your kindle as well. I love it!
Movie I Enjoyed Recently
Searching starring John Cho and Debra Messing. I thought this was a very clever take on the missing child storyline. It put my detective skills to the test… I failed. Two Thumbs Up! P.S my husband didn’t have it figured out either
PODCAST I’M LISTENING TO THIS WEEK
Serial Season 3on Apple Podcasts. I’m from Ohio and the entire season will be a year inside a Cleveland, Ohio courthouse. I’ve listened to the first 2 episodes and it’s GOOD!
AUDIOBOOK I’M ENJOYING
Disclaimer by Renee Knight. I love audiobooks but I’m very picky about the narrator. This story has 2 British narrators, a man and a women which makes for great listening as the story is very much a he said/she said psychological thriller. I can’t figure out where it’s going which is even better
Have A Great Weekend!
I started Serial last night and thought of you – sounds like it’s going to be a good one! Of course, I’m now stressed out about having Serial, Dr. Death, and my library hold of Small Fry on audio just came in. AAHH!!

I hear you, I’m caught up on Dr Death and Serial and I want to finish Disclaimer on audio but i just downloaded the audiobook Fear by Bob Woodward so I may have to dive in to that

Haha yes I do but most of the time I don’t have the good ones figured out…I wouldn’t have made a good detective! With this movie, I had tunnel vision on my suspect and I missed the clues😳. I’ll email you who I thought it was

I’m currently reading The Dream Daughter, so I’m excited to see it on this list! I’m going to have to look into a few of the others.
I use Overdrive and I love it. I downloaded Libby, but it didn’t seem all that different, and I’m used to Overdrive now. What are the differences that make it better? Should I try it again?

I haven’t used the overdrive app so it might be the same as Libby I’m not sure. Before Libby I was going through many steps on the library website to get to ebooks and audiobooks and with Libby it’s direct which I love

I’ve been using the Overdrive app for library books so I am not sure what the difference is with Libby. Seems like an extra layer.

I never used the Overdrive app so I’m not sure. I find Libby super fast for looking up and checking out ebooks but Overdrive app might be the exact same

Great list! I do love a book that makes me feel. I have the Elizabeth Berg book on my NG shelf. I really loved Arthur Truluv and hope this is a worthy sequel. Dreamcatchers and the new Andre Dubus novel, Gone So Long is on my radar.
I’ve used overdrive for several years now to borrow e-books and audio from my library. They are encouraging us to use Libby for Overdrive but I’m not sure what the difference is between the old and new app. In any case free is good! 😊
I have Serial and Dr Death ready to go, looking forward to them. I just added Searching to my list of movies to watch. Thanks for the recommendation!

You’re welcome Jan! I have Gone So Long on my tbr as well, In fact I think I’m pretty high on the library wait list so I might get it right when it’s published. We’ll have to compare thoughts. Hope you enjoy those podcasts!

Renee, I’m embarrassed to admit this but I checked and I actually have Gone So Long on my NetGalley shelf. So I’ll definitely be reading it soon. I hope it’s a good one for both of us 😊

I read Disclaimer rather than reading it, but I loved where it ended up going! I’d love to chat about it when you’re done 🙂

I just finished it this morning. I really enjoyed the audio but I was disappointed overall. I think I just expected more and felt that it fell flat for me. I do have to say I was unsure of what was going on or who was telling the truth throughout so that was a plus

Haha, just re-read my comment and realized it didn’t make sense. I meant that I didn’t end up listening too it. I’m sorry to hear that it didn’t work so well for you! I also liked that it kept me guessing.
