How toSurprise Your Husbandon hisBirthday

This weekend my little blog turned 1! Seriously, the year has flown by and book blogging has been some of the most fun I’ve had in years. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of work to read, write, review, maintain social media, come up with interesting (hopefully:) content etc but I wouldn’t trade it! I’m someone who’s completely obsessed with books and reading and the blog has brought me the experience of not only reading books months in advance but also getting to interact with authors I never would’ve gotten to speak with before…I’ve been starstruck too many times to count this year by an author reaching out with a comment or email…that’ll never get old!!

More importantly though….If someone would’ve told me a year ago that I would make such good friends from not only the US but all over the WORLD, I would’ve thought they were crazy! In all honesty,  that’s been the very best part of blogging…the friends I’ve “met” along the way who are ALWAYS willing to chat about books and reading and also life, movies, kids…you name it! The book blogging community is one of the best communities to be a part of and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the next year brings. So, with that said I’ll stop rambling and get to the good stuff…I was inspired by my friend Janel at Keeper of Pages to do a different type of giveaway…one where I make you work a little…but not much:)

There are 2 Giveaways…yes, you read that right…you can enter one or both but to win you MUST be following my blog (yes, I’ll be checking:) and you have to answer MY  QUESTION. That’s it! What can you win? A new book of course! This is open INTERNATIONALLY but Book Depository must ship to your location and you have to be willing to provide me with your address so I can send you your prize! In the comment section that follows….

To celebrate my Blogiversary I’ve decided to also treat myself to a book from Book Depository that I think sounds fantastic but haven’t been able to get ahold of just yet. All 3 of the following books are on my tbr but I’ve only ordered 1 of them…tell me which one you think I’ve ordered and if you win I’ll send YOU a copy as well! A winner will be chosen at random from all the correct guesses.

This past year I’ve posted many, many reviews and I can only hope that I’ve inspired you to want to read something you’ve come across on my blog…if not, please don’t tell me haha! Leave me a comment telling me what book I’ve inspired you to want to read based on one of my reviews and if you win I’ll send it to you…it’s as easy as that! There’s a listing of categories and/or archives along the right to help you navigate my reviews.

** A winner will be chosen at random for each giveaway and you can enter until Tues 11:59 pm (US) EST

Good Luck & Thank You to everyone for following and supporting It’s Book Talk!

****This giveaway is closed & winners have been notified…congrats to Anita (Giveaway #1) and Diana at A Haven for Booklovers ( Giveaway #2) ****

  1. Holly B / Dressedtoread

Happy B-Day It’s Book Talk!! What a fun give away! I think you ordered Sweet Little Lies and you inspired me to read The Good Daughter, but of course I already ran out and bought it! I haven’t read it yet as I am waiting for a group read!

  2. Happy blogiversary Renee! I felt it was much longer than a year already! There really are so many fun moments when blogging but making friends is definitely one of the best perks :-).
When I think stunning ending I’m thinking Behind Her Eyes.. with a hashtag like that #WTFthatending it must be quite something right ;-). I’m pretty sure you inspired me quite a few times this year to read a book after reading your review but definitely also with The Good Daughter!

  3. Congratulations on your successful blog.
Lots of books, so much choice!
A book with a stunning ending…..Feel Me Fall by James Morris.
A book from this blog I am inspired to read….A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams
My guess about the book you have ordered…How To Stop Time by Matt Haig, I know you quite like your crime, so I thought this might be a little different and it was the book which appealed to me most.
May you have many more years of blogging bliss.

  4. Kristin Turner

Congratulations Happy Anniversary!!! I’ve certainly learned a lot about books and u (blockbuster employee) along the way. Hugs. Kristin

  5. Susie | Novel Visits

Congratulations, Renee! A year seems like such a short time, but we know how much work that entails. You’ve done a beautiful job and I love talking books with you!

  6. Naomi w

Stunning ending…The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld because of that one memory she finally had of her own kidnapping.
Book you ordered…How to Stop Time, because that’s what I would want to read first.
Book you inspired me to read…Castle of Water, I had no interest in it until you said there was a twist. Now I wanna know.

    Happy Blogiversary!

  7. Happy Blogaversary! 🎉❤️🎉🎈🎉
Stunning ending huh? There are just so many! In the spirit of October/Halloween I’m going to have to choose A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. That book had me guessing what was real and what was fake the whole way through. Then when it came together at the end I was blown away!! I read it years ago and still think about it

  8. Happy Blogiversary Renee 🎉 Giveaway 1 is a tricky one, but I don’t know which it is but I definitely know which it isn’t 😉 I love your blog and wish we lived closer as we’ve so much in common- you’ve made want to read plenty of books, but most notably of late – it was The Force by Don Winslow.

    • Thank you Janel, I’m thrilled we’ve connected and really wish we could have a cocktail together and talk crime and psychos:) Care to take a guess on giveaway 1?? I think you’ll love The Force, good luck in that giveaway!

      • Oh yeah I forgot to add, I’m going with How to Stop Time because it’s the only one I haven’t read 😊 and being on the receiving end of the giveaway rather than the host – it is actually fun, much better than a rafflecopter giveaway (and you don’t have to insert that awkward URL lol)

  9. Congrats Renee! This is so awesome and you deserve all the followers! I’m torn between Sweet Little Lies and The Girl Who Takes and Eye for an Eye..
The review which made me want to read the book SO BAD is The Heart’s Invisible Furies and I’m still waiting to read it!!
Giveaway entries aside I wish you many more years of reviewing and I’ll be looking forward to more great posts from you!

  10. Jo

Congratulations on your first blogiversary! I can’t believe it’s only been a year! I think you’ve decided to treat yourself to The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye x

  11. Happy blogiversary Renee!! 🎊🎊 One year must be a wonderful feeling 😊 Wow, lol. You’ve inspired me to read so many books that I wouldn’t know where to start! I finally had time to finish Goodbye, Vitamin, and I loved it ❤ I think The Heart’s Invisible Furies is the one you’ve made me want to read most although it’s hard to choose!

      • You’re very welcome! Yes, thank you! It took me forever to read because I’m having to read so much for school, but I finally read it in one night once I got the chance! I’m so glad I bought it after reading your review (alongl with about a half dozen more 😉). Thanks! Congrats again!

  12. crimebookjunkie40

Congrats on your one year birthday, Renee! Fantastic blog and lovely to have “met” you over this year. I have plenty of books so will leave the prizes to others (Good luck everyone) – I just wanted to say Congrats! Woohoo! 🎉🙌🏻👏🥂

  13. Jaime Winkel

Hi Renee! The first book I thought of for Stunning Ending was Daisy in Chains, which you recommended. I hope you’re reading The Girl Who Took an Eye For an Eye because I really want it! And the book you’ve inspired me to read that I haven’t yet is Artemis. So fun!

  14. Anita Maguet

Sweet little lies!!!! It has to be!! That way, I win and we can read it together! Right up my alley! Then I can rub it in Jaime’s face! Lol!

As for book inspirations, a lot of them have been more conversations versus blog inspired ( The Kind Worth Killing, You, Still Missing, oodles of others), but I bookmark them all and read later.

  15. Happy blogiversary! You’ve been a great addition to the book-blogging community, so I hope you stick around for many more years. I’m not entering your giveaway since I’ve already got a copy of it, but the next book on my TBR is one of your recommendations – Trophy Son… yes, I’m finally getting around to reading it! Have a great day and don’t forget to have a huge slice of cake – it’s compulsory on blogiversaries. 😀

    • Thanks so much FictionFan! I’ll be here to discuss Trophy Son when you’re done, can’t wait to hear what you think! I’m forever grateful that you talked me into the Jane Casey series…Josh Derwent forever😍

  16. Happy blogiversary 💕 I’ve just seen this! I’m so happy that you (and I!) decided to join the blogosphere and “met” thanks to our obsession: BOOKS! Now, every time I read a new book I think if you’d like it or not and say to myself: Renee would probably DNF this 😂 Haha just kidding, but the first part is obviously true

I’d say How to stop time because it’s different and you’re in need of something unique and fresh!

And if I start to list all the books you’ve made me want to read I’d never stop. I discovered a favorite series (LACEY!!!) thanks to your rec, I’m starting the Jane Casey series soon because of you, I also want to read Heart’s invisible furies, The child finder…and I could go on lol

    • Thanks so much Annie! I’m also so happy our mutual obsession of all things books has led to our friendship and lately (as you know) you’re so right to think I would DNF something😂 I’m SO excited for you to try Jane Casey’s books so we can discuss whether you share my love for Josh Derwent! Thanks for supporting me and my blog💗

  17. CONGRATULATIONS ON TURNING 1!!!! So proud of you! You’ve been doing so good with your blog! I’m utterly happy to have met you <3

    Congrats a

  18. Congratulations Renee. So proud of you for what you have achieved in the year. You are one person whose posts I always look forward to and I have enjoyed seeing that apart from books, we also follow a couple of the same TV Shows 🙂

Two books that come to mind are Hum if You don’t know the words and Bear Town.Oh and Tall Oaks.

Cheers to many more blogging milestones!

    • Thanks Diana! I’m so happy we’ve ‘met’ through the great blogosphere…we do have a lot in common books and tv included! good luck on the giveaway, all those were such amazing reads!! Cheers💜

  19. Thanks for the chance of a give-away. For a great ending I recommend The Power of the Dog by Thomas Savage (not Don Winslow!). No-one has heard of it but it’s a great book.

And thanks to you excellent blog there have been several books added to my TBR list – most recently The Hearts Invisible Furies and The Child Finder.

    • Thank you Robin and you’re right, I’ve only heard of the Don Winslow book so I’ll look up the other one! Heart’s and Child Finder were both SO excellent…good luck in the giveaway and thanks for supporting my blog!

  20. Happy blogiversary!! This is such a fun way to do a giveaway. Thank you for the chance. I think you bought Sweet Little Lies and you made me want to read The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter. I have had the chance to read it yet but I have put it on my TBR.

  21. Happy Blogiversary!! Love love your blog Renee! x
I also loved what Janel did for her Blogiversary and I am so excited to see you doing something similar. I think Janel has started a fun new trend!
Giveaway 1 I’m going with Sweet Little Lies.
Giveaway 2 has to be The Heart’s Invisible Furies. I was out of town when this was a BOTM selection. I’m still kicking myself, after reading your review, that I didn’t pay more attention.

    • Thanks so much Tina! Heart’s has been a popular choice and with good reason, I want to read it again for the first time myself:) I’d love to be able to send that to you, so good luck in both giveaways!!

  22. Happy 1st blogiversary Renee! I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your great reviews, book recommendations, and your unwavering support of my blog over the past year.

  24. A day or two late as always, but Happy 1 yr! <3 You have such a fantastic blog and I am ever thankful our paths have crossed. I think you have probably order Sweet Little Lies 😉 Oddly enough, your review of the Marsh King's Daughter inspired me to want to explore the title. I know it did not sit so well with you, but your honest thoughts moved me to want to see just whether or not I would enjoy it.

    • Thank you Danielle! I’m sorry you missed the giveaways, you’re right with Sweet Little Lies:) I’m happy my review of MKD still inspired you to want to try it, I always try to remember when I review that what doesn’t work for me may still work for others. I’m so happy we’ve connected, you’re strength through your medical difficulties has inspired me so much I hope you know!

  25. I believe you got Sweet Little Lies.
And the book review that made me want to read said book is, Hum If You Don’t Know The Words.
