Thank you Lorraine at The Book Review Cafe for tagging me for the Rapid Fire Book Tag! Here are my answers…

eBooks or physical books?

Probably 90% of the time ebooks.  BUT I almost always order the hardcover book of all my 5 star reads. I take the paper covers off and put them on my bookshelves around my house so I can gaze at them:)

Paperback or hardback?

If I’m going to read print I prefer hardcovers

Online or in-store shopping?

Online for most of my buying but I go to the bookstore every week and take pictures of all the new releases I like and try to occasionally buy from there as I want to support the business. A perfect day is drinking coffee and reading in a bookstore😍

Trilogies or series?

I really haven’t read many trilogies (I can only think of Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes) so series for sure

Heroes or villains?

Heros…I’m drawn to rooting for the good guy

A Book You Want Everyone to Read?

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

Recommend an underrated book.

It has to be Tall Oaks by Chris Whitaker….read it!!

The last book you finished?

A Brilliant Death By Robin Yocum….fantastic read!!

Weirdest thing you used as a book mark?

Since I don’t read a lot of print I usually grab a receipt or post it

Used books, yes or no?

Yes, definitely used books

Top three favourite genres?

Mysteries, Crime Fiction, Thrillers

Borrow or buy?

Borrow mostly then buy 5 star reads for my bookshelf

Characters or plot?

Characters. I need to connect with at least one and then I’m usually on board with the plot

Short or long book?

Long, they allow for longer time to get lost!

Long or short chapters?

Short for a quicker pace

Name the first three books you think of?

Sirens By Joseph Knox,  I Liked My Life By Abby Fabiaschi , You by Caroline Kepnes

Books that make you laugh or cry?

Cry…I think it takes a special talent to evoke those kinds of feelings in a reader

Our world or fictional worlds?

Our World

Do you ever judge a book by its cover?

Yes, I try not to but I’ve passed on books if I didn’t like the cover and/or title

Book to movie or book to TV adaptation?

Book to Movie

Series or standalone?

Both, I often jump into a series midway or later, I figure I can always go back and catch up if I want to:)

  1. I really like this tag 😀 Hardcovers tend to fall on my face when I’m reading on the couch or bed so it’s a big no-no for me, hahahah

    • You should do this tag, Donna! I didn’t tag too many, I know most everyone is swamped reading and reviewing, especially you with Orenda month:) I like hardcovers since the font is bigger and my eyes are getting worse the older I get😂

      • I’ve got essays to write so that’s slowing down my reading but they are both in the pile of owned books to read first (along with Dark Matter and a few others) Any more recommendations I get from you from this point on will have to go in a third pile of ‘owned books to read after initial owned books to read have been read’ 😂😂

  2. Annie

    I didn’t get the notification 🙁

Great tag! I love when books make me cry but I also appreciate it when they make me laugh… I think it’s harder with a book? And I think I prefer paperbacks, I don’t know. Hardcovers are so heavy XD

    • I think it’s got to be so hard for an author to create enough emotion to make readers cry that if I do I almost always give the book 5 stars. The font in hardcovers is bigger…the older I’m getting the worse my eyes are😂 And hardcovers look good on my shelves as well:) I hope you can squeeze in this tag, love to see your answers!!

  3. I’m a physical book person myself but I’m conflicted about hardcovers vs. paperbacks. I prefer the feel of reading a paperback but I like hardcovers because they hold up better over time. And I’m totally with you on judging books by their covers. 🙂

    • I agree that I also like the feel of a paperback vs hardcover but my issue is the usually smaller font:) I hate my reading glasses so sometimes I can get away with not wearing them with hardcovers. That’s really why I overall prefer my kindle. Thanks for stopping by!:)

  4. Ahhhh I’ve seen such amazing things for A Little Life! When I went to my last author event, the author was talking about A Little Life was the book that has given her the most emotional reaction to a book EVER. I am super intimidated by how ridiculously long it is though…

    • I would totally agree with that statement…it’s the most emotional I’ve ever been reading a book. I read it over a year ago and still think about the characters. It’s hard to say oh you’d like it because it’s devastating yet there’s an underlying sense of the healing powers of love and friendship. I would say don’t let the length stop you, you will fly through it, especially after the first 200 pages in which she’s setting things up with the characters. Let me know if you decide to give it a try, I’d love to discuss it!!
