One single mom. One chaotic family. One quirky stranger. One irresistible love story from the New York Times bestselling author of Me Before You

Suppose your life sucks. A lot. Your husband has done a vanishing act, your teenage stepson is being bullied and your math whiz daughter has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you can’t afford to pay for. That’s Jess’s life in a nutshell—until an unexpected knight-in-shining-armor offers to rescue them. Only Jess’s knight turns out to be Geeky Ed, the obnoxious tech millionaire whose vacation home she happens to clean. But Ed has big problems of his own, and driving the dysfunctional family to the Math Olympiad feels like his first unselfish act in ages… maybe ever

I have great love for mysteries and thrillers but every once in awhile I like to take a break and read something different, yet still engaging and maybe even funny. This book by JoJo Moyes fits that bill completely.  I know lots of us have read and loved Me Before You and wondered if she could write that well again with different characters. She can. And the great thing about this book is it’s completely different yet I was just as immersed in the characters and their very quirky journey to get to the math tournament. This would be a perfect read if you’ve been in a reading slump or just want to dive into a character driven, well-written story.

    1. Awesome! You’re welcome, I really enjoyed this one by her but was very disappointed in After You. I love her writing style though and will be waiting for her next book! I hope you enjoy it.

      1. You’re not the first person to say the same thing about After You, I’m actually not interested in reading it at all. I thought Me Before You ended perfectly as a standalone and didn’t need to be dragged on with After You. Thank you!!

  1. I read Me before you and I kinda liked it but it was not my type of book (I prefer love stories in films much better). Never read any of her other books though!

    1. I would highly recommend One Plus One if you’re looking for a feel good well-written book with engaging characters. I didn’t care for After You, the sequel to Me Before You. I think that was a case of she should’ve left well enough alone as Me Before You was a finished story

  2. Like you I enjoy a book from a different genre every now and again and I was very taken with this although my main memory is scaring the postman who knocked at the door when I was reading it; I had a bad cold and was in the middle of a full-on ugly cry when I had to sign for a parcel haha
