I’m really liking the idea of continuing on with this Throwback Thursday theme every week. I like that these older books are usually much easier than new releases to get a hold of at libraries and elsewhere. My pick this week is:
Published March 22nd 2011 by St. Martin’s Press
My Rating: 4 Stars
FROM GOODREADS
For a mother, life comes down to a series of choices.
To hold on…
To let go..
To forget…
To forgive…
Which road will you take?
For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows–her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.
Jude does everything to keep her kids safe and on track for college. It has always been easy–until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time her kids leave the house, she worries about them.
On a hot summer’s night her worst fears come true. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget…or the courage to forgive.
This is a perfect pick for all you mystery lovers who like to delve into the fabric and drama of the characters’ lives, along with trying to figure out the mystery of what happened that long ago summer’s night. IT’S SO GOOD!! Kristin Hannah is such a versatile writer and you just feel like you KNOW her characters. I highly recommend this read.

How old does a book have to be to be considered a throwback lol? My choice would be The Ice Cream Girls by Dorothy Koomson. I loved the TV adaptation too!

HaHa, I don’t have a time frame but I kind of think of books published at least a year ago or more:) Just went to goodreads, The Ice Cream girls sounds really good!

I have a bunch of Kristin Hannah books sitting on my TBR that I haven’t read yet. I must remedy that! Throw back to Brenda Novak’s Whiskey Creek series.. I have read the first three and they are great 😀

I’ve only read The Nightingale, didn’t know she wrote mysteries as well :O

I don’t think she typically does, and this is definitely a character driven book but I don’t remember being able to figure out what happened until the very end

I bought this book recently during a thrift store excursion after reading The Nightingale. I had never read a KH before, but after reading The Nightingale, I’ve been slowly acquiring her other books. I hope to pick this one up at some point.
Do you have a favorite?

I haven’t read all of her books but my favorite has to be Firefly Lane…have many tissues handy for that one! I haven’t read the Nightingale but I was somewhat curious about it because there’s over 20,000 reviews on amazon and it’s a 5 star average rating. Did you like it?
